New Workshops for 2025:

Exciting new workshops taught by experienced professional fine artists and trained and qualified teachers. Each course is planned out with set objectives so you can see your improvement and skill development throughout each lesson with the knowledge of a professional teacher and artist supporting you.

OUTER LAYER: PRINTED NATURE

Location: Cwmcarn Forest

22nd March 2025 – Start Time: 10:00pm-12:00pm

Printed Nature is part of Found in Nature, it is a workshop looking at printing natural forms to create unique pieces of artwork inspired by Nature. This 2hr session will introduce you to the diversity of printmaking and the opportunity to explore and experiment with versatile media to create exciting artwork. All printing inks are water-based and environmentally friendly.

What to expect:
Tutors Louise and Frank will provide you will all materials you need to create beautiful artwork. H&S will be discussed and the use of one of our print presses (and various techniques) demonstrated and explored to create images produced directly from nature. Demonstrations by professional artists & print makers Louise and Frank will show you how to compose a beautiful image but also open opportunities for you to develop new ideas with a new media. Have fun in a creative and beautifully natural location at Forest Drive visitor centre.

OUTER LAYER: NATURAL DYING FOR BEGINNERS

Location: Cwmcarn Forest

Description: Extract vibrant plant-based colour by learning how to process dye baths from barks, roots and vegetable skins. Following a demonstration you’ll stitch, clamp, tie and fold cotton cloth into bold resist patterns, leaving with beautifully unique

This session is great for Beginners. Our professional textile artist Becca will provide all the materials required. The session in an introduction to natural dyeing and using materials directly from nature, this is a sustainable technique you can take home and develop further. H&S will be discussed prior to the session. Demonstrations will be provided for each technique. Have fun in a creative and beautifully natural location at Forest Drive visitor centre.

OUTER LAYER: BOTANICAL BUNDLE DYING INTRO

Location: Cwmcarn Forest

Get a taste of alternative natural dye practices by bundle dyeing a cotton tote bag using a selection of plants. Using steam, capture vibrant colours and delicate patterns in cloth to make your own unique textiles.

What to expect:

This session is great for Beginners. Our professional textile artist Becca will provide all the materials required. The session in an introduction to natural dyeing and using materials directly from nature, you also get to take home your very own tote bag. H&S will be discussed prior to the session.
