Seasonal Classes & Workshops Diary

Courses and Workshops – Winter Block (14th November 2022 – 15th January 2023)

Our aim is to deliver a series of workshops where the local and wider community can learn and participate in developing new creative skills, techniques and processes. All our tutors have a wide teaching experience within their field covering all levels of teaching, including post 16 and additional learning needs. 

Each of the classes run on a weekly basis and each lesson is self-contained so you don’t need to attend all lessons if you don’t want. You can come to just one session if you want a taste of the subject or you can book the entire block. It’s up to you!

Tuesday (9.45 – 10.45am)
Sensory Play & Create (Parent/Guardian & Toddler/Baby)

Spend quality time with your toddler/child exploring hand eye coordination through using touch and visual arts & crafts techniques in a friendly, supportive, and creative environment.

Tuesday (2.00 – 4.00pm)
Seasonal Printmaking

Explore printmaking by creating designs for seasonal cards, wrapping paper and labels to give your gifts a special, personal touch throughout the year! Each class is a practical based session where you will learn new practical skills that you can use and develop for any seasonal or celebratory occasion.

This class is suitable for beginners with no previous printmaking experience.

Tuesday (4.30 -5.30pm)
Seasonal Art Club for Kids

Festive fun and creative art/craft for FREE. 

This class is a lovely session for Children to get creative using basis materials. Creating fun festive decorations from sustainable and recyclable materials such as card and other basic equipment and materials  that can also be created at home.

Tuesday (6.00- 8.00 pm)
Seasonal Sculpture

This introduction into clay sculpting will be looking at natural forms with a seasonal theme.

Take-home something you could be proud of that can come back out for each season or to give as a gift to a friend. Learn skills to build clay sculptures from air drying and kiln-fired clay. if you are more experienced with clay our tutor Rebecca would love to help you push your skills further.

Wednesday (10.30 – 12300pm)
Wellbeing Wednesday: Create & Craft

This session aims to introduce you to the art of paper. You will learn how to create paper ornaments, vessels, geometric patterns and geometric paper folding. This is a lovely relaxing session where our tutor Rebecca will show you how use these methods and incorporate a small amount of mindfulness and controlled breathing to improve well-being.
Create something beautiful and mindful! A paper object with thought.

Friday (4.30 – 5.30pm)
Illustration Art & Comic Characters (Age 8- 14yr)

This was such a popular class we will be running another block of illustration Art on a Friday.

You will learn fun ways to design characters and look at many aspects of illustration that will also see crossovers into comics and other imaginative forms of drawing. You will also look at the environment and scenes to bring your characters to life. You will set fun creative challenges to stretch your imagination and drawing skills

Friday (6.00 – 8.00pm)
Fine Art Friday: Winter Watercolours

Explore watercolour techniques using beautiful winter scenes to inspire your work, and learn a range of methods to capture, ice frost, and snow. This watercolour class is fun and allows you to create something you can take home and give to a friend for Christmas (or something you can be proud of to hang on your own wall). This class is great for beginners and general watercolour enthusiasts alike.

Saturday (11.00am – 2.00pm)
Life Drawing & Painting the Human Form (18+ only)

The human form can be painted in many ways, learn the classical ways of painting from life. Use a wide range of painting techniques and methods to create inspiring artwork. Each session uses a life model which will focus on developing analysing, measuring, and drawing the figure.

Create, Make & Take Workshops

Wednesday (7.00 – 9.00pm)
Create, Make & Take: Stained Glass & Resin workshops

The main focus of this Create, Make & Take session is to explore collage, stained glass, and resin. We will look at collage techniques using different printed materials to create an image. You will also learn how to create stained glass effects with resin! We will be using beautiful coloured glass with wire to create light-catching ornaments, something you can quite easily recreate at home.

Saturday (2.30am – 4.30pm)
Create, Make & Take: Decorative Ceramic Moulds (Part 1 & 2) – 19th & 26th November 2022

This a great class for those who love Ceramics and a great taster for those who are complete beginners. You will be taught to make some decorative pottery using a moulds and hand building techniques.

The class is a 2 hour session that will be split into two parts. Part 1 will focus on building the form and shape of your festive pot using decorative moulds to create patterns and detail.

 Part 2 – Hand painting glaze patterns ready for firing. Make it – Take it – Bake it. 

Saturday (2.30am – 4.30pm) Create, Make & Take: Textiles – Sustainable Christmas Trees (Part 1) – 26th November 2022

Join residence artist Menna from Naturesthreadss to create sustainable Christmas decorations. Exploring a variety of handcrafted textile techniques with sustainability at the heart you will join Menna in making two variants of mini Christmas trees.

Each tree focuses on using textile waste to produce beautiful sweet little decorations for your home or as a gift during the holiday season.

Saturday (2.30am – 4.30pm)
Create, Make & Take: Festive Felting (Part 1 & 2) – 3rd & 10th December 2022

Create, Make and Take is an introductory pop-up class with a mixture of disciplines taking place every Saturday with specialist tutors.

These sessions will range from Felting, mould making, wire-work, resin and much more. These short pop-up classes allow you to participate in a creative class without committing to a lengthy course, this class is designed to fit into your busy lifestyle and you can take home your creation.

Saturday (2.30am – 4.30pm) Create, Make & Take: Textiles – Sustainable Christmas Trees (Part 2) – 9th December 2022

This is a practical based session where you will learn new practical skills that you can use and develop to create seasonal or celebratory greeting cards at any time of the year!

Create, Make & Take: Winter Wirework – 7th January 202

This is a great taster for those who are complete beginners at wire work. You will learn how to make decorative wire flowers using  hand building techniques with various tools. These little wire flowers can free stand or put in a frame and look great on an interior in you or a friends home.

The class is a 2 hour session that shows you basics skills that you can practice at home.
